TOURISM VISITOR VISA

Canada has a very generous visitor visa program for tourists or people wanting to visit family. There are certain requirements that the applicants need to meet including the following:

Must be healthy and may require a medical exam from a CIC panel physician.
Valid passport, proof of identity and other necessary travel documents.
Satisfy CIC official that you have strong ties to your home country. This may include proof of employment.
Must satisfy CIC that you will leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay.
May require a letter of invitation from family or friends in Canada.
Have sufficient funds for the duration of stay in Canada.

Visitors are authorized to stay in Canada for a maximum of 6 months. Depending on the case the validity of the visa may be shorter. Should someone want to stay for longer, he/she would need to make a formal request to CIC and ensure that all the requirements are met.

*Note that visitor visa does not allow for people to work unless it has been approved by CIC.

SUPER VISA

Super Visa can be used as a long term multiple entry visa which allows parents or grandparents to live in Canada as temporary residents for up to 2 years. Super visa makes it really easy and straight forward for parents and grandparents to stay with the family for extended period of time. Super visa also features a shorter processing time of approximately 8 weeks.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicant must be eligible for regular visitor visa. This means applicant would not be denied visitor visa on criminal or medical grounds.
Proof of relationship to a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
Undergo full medical examination before applying.
Medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company that is valid for atleast 1 year with a minimum coverage of $100,000 for health care, hospitalization and repatriation.
Family member in Canada must have proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
Provide the applicant with a letter of invitation
